Encompassing six years, 10 sampling campaigns, and more than 800 toxicity tests utilizing a range of organisms from different trophic levels as bioindicators, this study offers a comprehensive ecotoxicological assessment of the environmental impacts resulting from the Fundão dam rupture-one of Brazil's most significant environmental disasters. We employed a novel approach that integrates acute and chronic laboratory toxicity tests to establish a toxicity index classifying samples into five categories: non-toxic, slightly toxic, moderately toxic, toxic, and highly toxic, based on a toxicity value calculated by considering diverse organisms' responses. This evaluation, conducted between 2018 and 2023, spanned both dry and rainy seasons, assessing water and sediment conditions across the Doce River and the adjacent marine region near its mouth.

Causal machine learning is an approach that combines causal inference and machine learning to understand and utilize causal relationships in data. In current research and applications, traditional machine learning and deep learning models always focus on prediction and pattern recognition. In contrast, causal machine learning goes a step further by revealing causal relationships between different variables.

This project aims to develop an interactive control system for an autonomous service robot using an ROS (robot operating system). The system integrates an intuitive web interface and an interactive chatbot supported by Google Gemini to enhance the control experience and personalization for the user. The methodology includes the integration of an API (application programming interface) to access a database storing user preferences, such as speed and frequent destinations.

infection is an emerging condition that causes damage and mortality among cattle and is transmitted by mechanical vectors or contaminated fomites. This disease has been spreading in southern Brazil, causing anemia, weight loss, diarrhea, abortion, and infertility; however, its behavior and host-parasite relationships are not yet fully understood. To clarify this issue, animals that presented clinical signs were subjected to an immunochromatographic screening test.

Antimicrobial-resistant is a growing threat to human health for which alternative therapeutic options are needed. In this study, we aimed to evaluate the efficacy of amlodipine (AML) and imipramine (IMI) to treat infection in the larval model by targeting efflux and biofilms, which are relevant contributors to antimicrobial resistance and virulence in . In-house reared were used in virulence assays to determine the infective dose of two strains differing in the expression of (gene encoding the native NorA efflux pump).
