Recent studies in humans have shown that certain pesticides could affect the composition and functions of the gut microbiota, an essential modulator of vertebrate physiology, leading to potential dysbiosis. However, this relationship remains largely unknown in wild birds despite the implications of pesticides in the current decline of farmland species. The present study sought to fill this gap by providing data on the association between pesticide concentrations in blood and gut microbiota characteristics in relation to individual traits in a farmland raptor, the Montagu's harrier (Circus pygargus).

Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to analyze characteristics of healthy children with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA-I) and those with OSA and non-syndromic obesity (OSA-II) in France who were treated with CPAP or NIV in 2019.
  • Data from a national survey focused on CPAP/NIV initiation criteria, duration, age at initiation, equipment used, settings, and compliance were examined.
  • Results showed that OSA-II patients were older at initiation and treated longer than OSA-I patients, with both groups mainly using CPAP, but having similar compliance rates.

Janus kinase (JAK) molecules are involved in important cellular activation pathways. Over the past decade, many targeted therapies have emerged, including the increasingly promising role of JAK inhibitors (JAKi) in the treatment of inflammatory and autoimmune diseases. The spectrum of use of these small molecules is increasingly broader.

Purpose: Intensity-modulated radiation therapy or volumetric-modulated arctherapy is nowadays the recommended radiation technique for the treatment of head and neck cancers. However, by providing a significant dose gradient between target volumes and organs at risk, there is a risk of target missing and thus recurrence in case of inadequate delineation. It is therefore necessary to determine the origin of these recurrences to improve clinical practice.

Chitosan is a natural polysaccharide widely used in medical formulations as nanoparticles due to their special properties. Our work aimed to assess the biocompatibility of chitosan-hyaluronic acid nanogels labeled with fluorochromes for use in biomedical applications, based on the FRET effect. The preparation method included the ionic gelation, grafting rhodamine or fluorescein isothiocyanate molecules onto the chitosan backbone.
