Presented here is an overview of non-volatile particulate matter (nvPM) emissions, i.e. "soot" as assessed by TEM analyses of samples collected after the exhaust of a J-85 turbojet fueled with Jet-A as well as with blends of Jet-A and Camelina biofuel.

This work presents the development of an optical setup for quantitative, high-temporal resolution line-of-sight extinction imaging in harsh optical environments. The application specifically targets measurements of automotive fuel sprays at high ambient temperature and pressure conditions where time scales are short and perceived attenuation by refractive index gradients along the optical path (i.e.

The accuracy, precision and limitations of the imaging technique named Structured Laser Illumination Planar Imaging (SLIPI) have been investigated. SLIPI, which allows multiply scattered light to be diminished, has previously demonstrated improvements in image quality and contrast for spray imaging. In the current study the method is applied to a controlled confined environment consisting of a mixture of water and monodisperse polystyrene microspheres.
