Since 2004, marine biodiversity inventory data have been systematically collected with diving, video, and benthic sampling methods in Finland. To date, this collection of data consists of more than 194 000 spatially explicit observations, covering more than 280 aquatic genera, representing mainly macroalgae, vascular plants, water mosses, and invertebrates. We describe the data collection and storage methods, data extraction from national databases, and provide potential users a curated, open-access version of the inventory data.

The degree to which measurements of connectivity alone can inform the understanding of neural computation is an open question. Here we show that with experimental measurements of only the connectivity of a biological neural network, we can predict the neural activity underlying a specified neural computation.

Metal-insulator-transition (MIT) of VO has attracted strong attention as a potential phenomenon to be utilized in nanostructured devices. Dynamics of MIT phase transition determines the feasibility of VO material properties in various applications, for example, photonic components, sensors, MEMS actuators, and neuromorphic computing.
