Cost and activity analysis for a citywide patient navigation intervention to engage underserved patients in breast cancer treatment: Findings from the Translating Research Into Practice study.

Background: Patient navigation is an evidence-based intervention for reducing delays in cancer care for underserved populations. There are limited economic evaluations of patient navigation in the US health care system and few have considered costs at various phases along the implementation spectrum. Having economic data, including costs and cost savings, can support sustainability of patient navigation programs.

Dopamine receptors D1, D2, and D4 modulate electrical synapses and excitability in the thalamic reticular nucleus.

The thalamic reticular nucleus (TRN) is a thin shell of gap junction coupled GABAergic inhibitory neurons that regulate afferent sensory relay of the thalamus. The TRN receives dopaminergic innervation from the midbrain, and it is known to express high concentrations of D1 and D4 receptors. Although dopaminergic modulation of presynaptic inputs to TRN has been described, the direct effect of dopamine on TRN neurons and its electrical synapses is largely unknown.

Association of individual and neighborhood socioeconomic status with outcomes of a smoking cessation intervention provided in the lung cancer screening setting.

Background: Lung cancer screening (LCS) offers a teachable moment for smoking cessation. This study assesses whether individual- or neighborhood-level SES is associated with tobacco abstinence and completion of a smoking cessation intervention in the LCS context.

Methods: Secondary analysis of a clinical trial (NCT03611881) that tested the effectiveness of smoking cessation treatment for smokers scheduled for LCS (N = 615) in eastern Massachusetts, USA from 2019 to 2024.

Prospective clinical study of enamel wear caused by monolithic zirconia resin-bonded inlay-retained and wing-retained fixed partial dentures over 5 years.

Objectives: To prospectively evaluate the wear of posterior zirconia resin-bonded fixed partial dentures (RBFPDs) with polished occlusal surfaces and their natural enamel antagonists compared to contralateral controls in an enamel-enamel contact over 5 years.

Materials And Methods: In six patients with either an inlay- or wing-retained RBFPD made of monolithic 3 mol% yttria-stabilized tetragonal zirconia polycrystal (3Y-TZP), wear was evaluated indirectly using baseline and annual polyvinyl siloxane impressions. Resulting gypsum models were digitized and aligned by unchanged surface areas.

Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) refers to a broad spectrum of conditions associating fat accumulation in the liver (steatosis) with varying degrees of inflammation (hepatitis) and fibrosis, which can progress to cirrhosis and potentially cancer (hepatocellular carcinoma). The first stages of these diseases are reversible and the immune system, together with metabolic factors (obesity, insulin resistance, Western diet, etc.), can influence the disease trajectory leading to progression or regression.
