Background: Whole-genome sequencing (WGS) has emerged as an alternative genotyping tool for outbreak investigations in the healthcare setting. We describe the investigation and control of a New Delhi metallo-B-lactamase (NDM)-producing cluster in Southeast Michigan.
Methods: Michigan Bureau of Laboratories identified several closely related NDM-producing isolates with WGS.
Political discourse is the soul of democracy, but misunderstanding and conflict can fester in divisive conversations. The widespread shift to online discourse exacerbates many of these problems and corrodes the capacity of diverse societies to cooperate in solving social problems. Scholars and civil society groups promote interventions that make conversations less divisive or more productive, but scaling these efforts to online discourse is challenging.

Clinicians can quickly use this rather intuitive statistical value to assess the expected effectiveness of a treatment and explain it to patients. However, careful attention must be paid to the outcomes used in defining an NNT, as well as, the rate of the specific event in the population and the duration of observation.

We report gas-phase binding energies of alkenes and alkynes to a cationic Au center, which indicate that differences in binding are not the origin of the disparate chemical behavior. We further report the synthesis and characterization of 2-aminoalkylgold complexes, which would be the intermediates in a hypothetical Au-catalyzed hydroamination of styrene.

-[()-2-(2-1,3,2-Benzodioxaborol-2-yl)-2-phenyl-ethen-yl]--(propan-2-yl)aniline, CHBNO, contains a C=C bond that is conjugated with a donor and an acceptor group. An analysis that included similar push-pull olefins revealed that bond lengths in their B-C=C-N core units correlate with the perceived acceptor and donor strength of the groups. The two phenyl groups in the mol-ecule are rotated with respect to the plane that contains the BCCN atoms, and are close enough for significant π-stacking.
