[Tendon transfers around the shoulder for patient with brachial plexus injury sequels].

Brachial plexus lesions can significantly affect patient function. The type of management will depend on the severity of the injury as well as the anatomical location. Tendon transfers around the shoulder have emerged as an effective treatment alternative, and therefore we should consider them when faced with patients who might require it.

Is computed tomography an accurate and reliable method for measuring total knee arthroplasty component rotation?

Purpose: Computed tomography (CT) is widely used to assess component rotation in patients with poor results after total knee arthroplasty (TKA). The purpose of this study was to simultaneously determine the accuracy and reliability of CT in measuring TKA component rotation.

Methods: TKA components were implanted in dry-bone models and assigned to two groups.

Heat transfer monitoring by means of the hot wire technique and finite element analysis software.

It is reported the study of the radial heat transfer in a homogeneous and isotropic substance with a heat linear source in its axial axis. For this purpose, the hot wire characterization technique has been used, in order to obtain the temperature distribution as a function of radial distance from the axial axis and time exposure. Also, the solution of the transient heat transport equation for this problem was obtained under appropriate boundary conditions, by means of finite element technique.
