The aim of this review is to highlight the properties of water and the need for adequate hydration for the proper functioning of the body. Spanish and European legislation on natural mineral waters has been reviewed, as well as the consensus documents of national and international congresses on hydration. In addition, relevant articles and, in particular, reviews on hydration and health, as well as other adapted terms of interest for each of the sections of this manuscript have been included.

Background And Aims: Parenteral nutrition (PN) composition could play a role in the management of systemic inflammatory response and intestinal barrier disruption. We aimed to evaluate changes in biomarkers of inflammation, oxidative status and intestinal permeability in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) who received different PN lipid formulas.

Methods: This was a prospective study, including 94 patients with T2DM who received omega (n)-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA)-enriched PN, a mixture of medium and long chain triglycerides (MCT/LCT) PN, or an olive oil-based PN.

To analyze the evidence in the scientific literature that relates Long-Covid and obesity, a narrative review of articles published in English and Spanish in Medline and Embase in the last 5years has been carried out. Infection with the SARS-CoV-2 virus causes a systemic inflammatory state increasing nutritional demand that favors sarcopenia in Long-Covid syndrome. It also causes endothelial dysfunction and a prothrombotic state that favors the formation of microthrombi and tissue hypoxia.

Article Synopsis
  • - The study highlights the potential of molecular nanographenes for next-gen optoelectronics, particularly focusing on chiral versions that show unique optical properties but are challenging to synthesize in pure forms.
  • - Traditional methods for obtaining chiral nanographenes involve costly HPLC for separating racemic mixtures, while only limited examples of direct enantioselective synthesis exist in literature.
  • - The authors propose a simpler chemical method for chiral resolution of helical bilayer nanographenes, utilizing BINOL and camphorsulfonyl chloride, leading to scalable production of enantiomerically pure nanographenes without relying on HPLC.

It is a celebratory moment for graphene! This year marks the 20th anniversary of the discovery of this amazing material by Geim and Novoselov. Curiously, it coincides with the century mark of graphite's layered structure discovery. Since the discovery of graphene with the promise that its outstanding properties would change the world, society often wonders where is graphene? In this context, their discoverers said in 2005, "despite the reigning optimism about graphene-based electronics, "graphenium" microprocessors are unlikely to appear for the next 20 years".
