Background: Habenula, a hub brain region controlling monoaminergic brain center, has been implicated in major depressive disorder (MDD) and as a possible target of antidepressant response. Nevertheless, the effect of antidepressant drug treatment on habenular volumes remains unknown. The objective of the present research was to study habenular volume change after antidepressant treatment in patients with MDD, and assess whether it is associated with clinical improvement.

Background: In many countries including the USA, the UK and Canada, the impact of COVID-19 on people of colour has been disproportionately high but examination of disparities in patients presenting to ED has been limited. We assessed racial and ethnic differences in COVID-19 positivity and outcomes in patients presenting to EDs in the USA, and the effect of the phase of the pandemic on these outcomes.

Methods: This is a retrospective cohort study of adult patients tested for COVID-19 during, or 14 days prior to, the index ED visit in 2020.

This cross-sectional study used the data from the Health Information National Trends Survey 6 (HINTS 6), which collects data on various aspects of health communication and information-seeking behaviors, to investigate the factors associated with quality care among White and Hispanic populations.

Comparison of HLA antibody identification methods for the selection of platelet products for HLA-mediated platelet refractory patients.

In an ineffective transfusion context, solid-phase immunoassays using the Luminex platform for the detection and characterization of HLA antibodies are currently used to select HLA-compatible platelet products. A new HLA antibody identification method, the HISTO SPOT® HLA AB test (BAG Health care GmbH, Lich, Germany), based on the detection of antibodies directed against a recombinant single antigen (SA) by colored spots detected by HISTO MATCH HLA AB module software, runs fully automated on the MR.SPOT®.

Emergency Department Bridge Model and Health Services Use Among Patients With Opioid Use Disorder.

Study Objectives: Little is known about the effectiveness of bridge clinics as transitional care programs for people with opioid use disorder in emergency departments (EDs). We assessed the effect of bridge clinic referral on health services use among patients with opioid use disorder identified in the ED.

Methods: We used data for individuals aged 18 years and over with active opioid use disorder and no history of medication for opioid use disorder who were administered medication for opioid use disorder while in the ED between January 2013 and August 2022.
