The lunar dust problem was first formulated in 1969 with NASA's first successful mission to land a human being on the surface of the Moon. Subsequent Apollo missions failed to keep the dust at bay, so exposure to the dust was unavoidable. In 1972, Harrison Schmitt suffered a brief sneezing attack, red eyes, an itchy throat, and congested sinuses in response to lunar dust.

We aimed at better characterizing visual sensitivity and responsivity in ASD at the self-reported, behavioral and neural levels, and at describing the relationships between these levels. We refer to sensory sensitivity as the ability to detect sensory stimuli and to sensory responsivity as an affective response to sensory stimuli.

As user-friendly software for the impact prediction of miRNA variants on a large scale is still lacking, we created a tool called miRVaS. miRVaS automates this prediction by annotating the location of the variant relative to functional regions within the miRNA hairpin (seed, mature, loop, hairpin arm, flanks) and by annotating all predicted structural changes within the miRNA due to the variant.

Background: Telemedicine is a way to support physicians working in resource-poor settings, providing remote consultations and continuing medical education on HIV/AIDS care.
Methods: A hybrid E-mail/web support telemedicine service was created in 2003 at the Institute of Tropical Medicine, Antwerp, Belgium, with a discussion forum hosting more than 170 healthcare professionals from 40 different countries, generally resource constrained. Interesting posts and recurring questions from this discussion forum have been elaborated as case studies or frequently asked questions, available on the website for consultation.
We have studied 28 patients mechanically ventilated for acute respiratory failure at different levels of externally applied positive end-expiratory pressure (PEEPe). We describe and compare a computed method of measuring "effective" elastance of the total respiratory system (Ers,eff) with the static values of elastance of the total respiratory system (Ers,st), obtained with the end-inflation occlusion technique. Ers,eff was computed by an original device (Heres, R.
