Background: Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) causes the most common type of severe lower respiratory tract infection worldwide, and the fusion (F) protein is a target for neutralizing antibodies and vaccine development. This study aimed to investigate the immunogenicity and efficacy of an mRNA-based RSV vaccine with an F protein sequence.

Methods: We designed an mRNA construct encoding a modified RSV F protein, which was further developed into an LNP-encapsulated mRNA vaccine (LVRNA007).

SDU050, a fungus derived from deep-sea sediment, is a prolific producer of diverse secondary metabolites. Genome sequencing revealed the presence of at least 69 biosynthetic gene clusters (BGCs), including 30 encoding type I polyketide synthases (PKSs). This study reports the isolation and identification of four classes of secondary metabolites from wild-type SDU050, alongside five additional metabolite classes, including three novel cytochalasins (-), obtained from a mutant strain through the metabolic blockade strategy.

Mangrove ecosystems have attracted widespread attention because of their high salinity, muddy or sandy soil, and low pH, as well as being partly anoxic and periodically soaked by tides. Mangrove plants, soil, or sediment-derived fungi, especially the species, possess unique metabolic pathways to produce secondary metabolites with novel structures and potent biological activities. This paper reviews the structural diversity and biological activity of secondary metabolites isolated from mangrove ecosystem-derived species over the past 5 years (January 2020-October 2024), and 417 natural products (including 170 new compounds, among which 32 new compounds were separated under the guidance of molecular networking and the OSMAC approach) are described.

Injury caused by excess reactive oxygen species (ROS) may lead to susceptibility to bacterial infection and sustained inflammatory response, which are the major factors impeding diabetic wound healing. By utilizing optimal anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and antibacterial biomaterials for multifunctional wound dressings is critical in clinical applications. In this study, a novel electrospun PLGA/MoS@Pd nanofiber membrane was synthesized by encapsulating antioxidant and near-infrared (NIR) responsive MOS@Pd nanozymes in PLGA nanofibers to form a multifunctional dressing for diabetic wound repair.

Endothelial cell dysfunction plays a crucial role in the early development of cerebral small vessel disease (CSVD). Arginase-1 (ARG1) is expressed in endothelial cells, and its deficiency may exacerbate cerebrovascular damage by increasing reactive oxygen species (ROS) production, thereby inducing endothelial cell apoptosis. Berbamine (BBM) has shown potential in neuroprotection and cardiovascular disease prevention.
