Proto-Kranz plants represent an initial phase in the evolution from C to C-C intermediate to C plants. The ecological and adaptive aspects of C-C plants would provide an important clue to understand the evolution of C-C plants. We investigated whether growth temperature and nitrogen (N) nutrition influence the expression of C-C traits in Chenopodium album (proto-Kranz) in comparison with Chenopodium quinoa (C).

The aneurysm was replaced with a Y-shaped graft using Crawford's technique, while the major branches of the abdominal aorta were separately cannulated from inside the aneurysm and perfused via partial extracorporeal circulation using a left femoro-femoral bypass. We found this technique useful in the prevention of tissue ischemia during the operation.

View Article and Find Full Text PDFA strain of Streptomyces griseofuscus S42227 (FERM P-8443) was found to produce new antitumor antibiotics, called azinomycins A and B. The molecular formulas of azinomycins A and B were determined as C30H33N3O10 and C31H33N3O11, respectively. They were active against Gram-positive bacteria, Gram-negative bacteria and L5178Y cells in tissue culture.
