Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a progressive neurodegenerative disorder involving mitochondrial dysfunction and consequent production of reactive oxygen species (ROS), generated after amyloid peptide (Aβ42) accumulation. In this study, we isolated a new antioxidant molecule from the sun coral Tubastraea tagusensis and analysed it in cells exposed to oligomeric amyloid-beta peptide 1-42 (oAβ42). The coral was collected and immersed in methanol for the release of compounds, which were submitted to antioxidant DPPH and FRAP activity-guided fractionation using solid-phase extraction and HPLC.

to assess the perception of self-efficacy, self-confidence, and satisfaction of undergraduate nursing students during the use of expert-modeling videos as a learning strategy in the period of social distancing. this was a descriptive study with undergraduates studying disciplines of caring for hospitalized newborns and children at a higher education nursing institution in the interior of the state of São Paulo, Brazil. Activities were organized in three moments, in real time: prebriefing, expert-modeling videos and debriefing.

Autophagy-lysosomal pathway impairment and cathepsin dysregulation in Alzheimer's disease.

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is characterized by neuronal loss, attributed to amyloid-beta (Aβ) aggregation and accumulation. The autophagy-lysosomal pathway, including cathepsins B and D, is crucial for protein degradation and clearance, but it is impaired in some diseases. This review summarizes current knowledge on the dysregulation of this pathway in AD.

Malignant Mesothelioma of the Tunica Vaginalis: About a Rare Clinical Case.

Malignant mesothelioma (MM) of the tunica vaginalis is an exceedingly rare neoplasm, with fewer than 300 cases reported in the medical literature. Due to its rarity, epidemiology, and risk factors are still unclear, and it is unknown whether asbestos or chronic inflammatory conditions play a role in etiology. This case study presents a 70-year-old male patient with MM of the tunica vaginalis, detailing the diagnostic challenges, treatment procedures, and eventual progression to palliative care.
