Objectives: Neuroprotective measures have been established in open thoraco-abdominal aortic aneurysm repair to reduce the incidence of postoperative paraplegia. Distal aortic perfusion (DaP) is meant to increase blood flow to the abdominal organs and the spinal cord. Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) drainage is part of peri- and postoperative clinical routine.

Case Presentation: An 8-month-old infant presented to a general emergency department with chief complaints of rhinorrhea, decreased activity, and fever. A point-of-care lung ultrasound (LUS) was performed at bedside with potential early findings of pneumonia. Based on these findings on LUS, a chest radiograph (CXR) was ordered and performed with no acute findings.

Objectives: For successful Naloxone Leave Behind (NLB) programs, Emergency Medical Services (EMS) must identify patients at-risk for opioid overdose. We describe the first year of Vermont's NLB program and report rates of EMS documentation of at-risk patients with subsequent distribution of NLB kits in the subgroup of those refusing transport to an emergency department (ED).
Methods: This retrospective cohort review of all EMS encounters over 1 year compared on-scene EMS documented to retrospective chart reviewidentified at-risk patients eligible for NLB kit dispersal.
