Mastocytosis is rare disease in which genetic predisposition is not fully understood. The aim of this study was to analyze associations between mastocytosis and single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) by a genome-wide association study (GWAS) approach. A total of 234 patients were enrolled in our study, including 141 with cutaneous mastocytosis (CM; 78 children and 63 adults) and 93 with systemic mastocytosis (SM, all adults).

Mast cell clonal disorders are characterized by the clonal proliferation of pathological mast cells as a result of somatic mutations in the KIT gene, most commonly the D816V mutation. Accumulation and degranulation of these cells causes a wide variety of symptoms. Mast cell clonal disorders can be divided into mastocytosis and monoclonal mast cell activation syndrome, depending of the level of clonality.

Background: The European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (EAACI) is in the process of developing the EAACI Guidelines for Allergen Immunotherapy (AIT) for the Management of Insect Venom Allergy. We seek to critically assess the effectiveness, cost-effectiveness and safety of AIT in the management of insect venom allergy.

Methods: We will undertake a systematic review, which will involve searching international biomedical databases for published, in progress and unpublished evidence.
