Roles of anoikis in hepatocellular carcinoma: mechanisms and therapeutic potential.

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), the most common primary liver cancer, is a highly aggressive malignancy with limited viable therapeutic options. For early HCC, resection surgery is currently the most effective treatment. However, in advanced stages, resection alone does not sufficiently address the disease, so finding a method with a better prognosis is necessary.

Construction of functional tissue-engineered microvasculatures using circulating fibrocytes as mural cells.

Mural cells are essential for maintaining the proper functions of microvasculatures. However, a key challenge of microvascular tissue engineering is identifying a cellular source for mural cells. We showed that , circulating fibrocytes (CFs) can (1) shear and stabilize the microvasculatures formed by vascular endothelial cells (VECs) in a collagen gel, (2) form gap junctions with VECs and (3) induce basement membrane formation.

Parishin B blocking TRIB3-AKT1 interaction inhibits breast cancer lung metastasis.

Background: TRIB3 has been reported to mediate breast cancer (BC) proliferation and metastasis by interacting with AKT1, and blocking the interaction between TRIB3 and AKT1 can inhibit the progression of BC. Besides, inhibiting TRIB3 to turn "cold tumor" hot has also been proved to be an effective therapeutic strategy for BC. Thus, this study aim to find drugs that can bind to TRIB3 to inhibit BC progression, and further elucidate its mechanism.

Effects of exogenous insulin supplementation on lipid metabolism in peripartum obese dairy cows.

Cows with high body condition scores experience more severe negative energy balance (NEB) and undergo mobilization of more body fat during the peripartum period, leading to more production of nonesterified fatty acids (NEFA) and -hydroxybutyric acid (BHBA). Postpartum insulin secretion is lower, and insulin resistance is stronger in obese cows. Exogenous insulin supplementation has been hypothesized as a key approach for regulating NEFA in these cows.

Comparison of GLP-1 Receptor Agonists Combined with Metformin Versus Metformin Alone in the Management of PCOS: A Comprehensive Meta-Analysis.

This study compared the efficacy and safety of glucogan-like peptide-1 receptor agonists (GLP1RAs) combined with metformin versus metformin alone in women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). A systematic search of "PubMed", "EMBASE", "Cochrane Library", and "Web of Science", "Google Scholar" was conducted up to September 2024. Studies were included if they were RCTs investigating the combination of GLP1RAs and metformin in women diagnosed with PCOS.
