Carbon-hydrogen (C-H) bonds are the foundation of essentially every organic molecule, making them an ideal place to do chemical synthesis. The key challenge is achieving selectivity for one particular C(sp)-H bond. In recent years, metalloenzymes have been found to perform C(sp)-H bond functionalization.

Recurrent acute pancreatitis (RAP) is a complex syndrome that presents variably, with many cases remaining idiopathic after thorough diagnostics. For evaluating structural etiologies, endoscopic ultrasound and MR cholangiopancreatography are preferred over endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) given their more favorable risk profile and sensitivity. The diagnostic work-up remains paramount since treatment should focus on addressing underlying causes such as early cholecystectomy for gallstone pancreatitis.

Findings made between 2010 and 2011 at the Montelirio tholos burial, part of the Valencina Copper Age mega-site, in south-western Spain, revealed what amounts to the largest single-burial ever-documented assemblage of beads. Furthermore, the Montelirio beads were part of unparalleled beaded attires worn by some of the people buried in the grave, mostly females.

AMOS structural equation findings yielded a model which indicated that both the Laissez-Faire and Authoritarian styles each predicted role stress and/or parental efficacy.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFA comprehensive optimization of known prokaryotic autotrophic carbon dioxide (CO) fixation pathways is presented that evaluates all their possible variants under different environmental conditions. This was achieved through a computational methodology recently developed that considers the trade-offs between energy efficiency (yield) and growth rate, allowing us to evaluate candidate metabolic modifications for microbial conversions. The results revealed the superior configurations in terms of both yield (efficiency) and rate (driving force).
