Background: We developed a blended training program at a tertiary pediatric center based on hospital-specific emergency guidelines, profession-specific Virtual Patients (VPs), and interprofessional team training. Using this novel approach, we addressed differing educational needs of medical and nursing staff and intrinsic cognitive overload among participants, aiming for harmonization of in-house emergency proceedings.

Methods: Self-assessments of pediatric emergency knowledge and skills were conducted before (T1) and after (T2) preparation using VPs, as well as after the team training day (T3).

Objectives: To describe safety and feasibility of long-term inhalative sedation (LTIS) in children with severe respiratory diseases compared to patients with normal lung function with respect to recent studies that showed beneficial effects in adult patients with acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS).

Design: Single-center retrospective study.

Setting: 12-bed pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) in a tertiary-care academic medical center in Germany.

Employing femtosecond laser pulses in front and back side pumping of Au/Fe/MgO(001) combined with detection in two-photon photoelectron emission spectroscopy, we analyze local relaxation dynamics of excited electrons in buried Fe, injection into Au across the Fe-Au interface, and electron transport across the Au layer at 0.6 to 2.0 eV above the Fermi energy.
