Introduction: In this comparative case study, we discuss clinically relevant discrepancies of antimicrobial susceptibility testing (AST) interpretation for ceftriaxone against a non-typable, beta-lactamase negative, ampicillin-resistant (BLNAR) isolated from a blood culture.

Case Report: A 74-year-old man presented with a 3 day illness characterized by shortness of breath and dry cough, and was noted to be febrile and hypoxic on admission. A blood culture bottle flagged positive with Gram-negative coccobacilli, later identified as with the patient commenced on ceftriaxone.

  • * In a study with mice that have TNBC, scientists found that CR not only made the mice lose weight but also increased certain molecules called miRs, especially miR-15b.
  • * MiR-15b seems to fight against tumor growth, and using CR could be a way to use it as a treatment for TNBC in the future.

Extraintestinal pathogenic (ExPEC) sequence type (ST) 38 is one of the top 10 human pandemic lineages. Although a major cause of urinary tract and blood stream infections, ST38 has been poorly characterized from a global phylogenomic perspective. A comprehensive genome-scale analysis of 925 ST38 isolate genomes identified two broad ancestral clades and linkage of discrete ST38 clusters with specific variants.
