Fluoropyrimidines have been the basis of systemic and regional chemotherapy of this disease for several decades, but recent studies have demonstrated that the addition of irinotecan (CPT-11) ameliorates the results of systemic treatment.
Methodology: Fifteen patients with isolated liver metastases of colorectal carcinoma were treated with regional administration of CPT-11 in combination with 5-fluorouracil/folinic acid (5-FU/FA).
