Histone Deacetylase 9 Deletion Inhibits Hepatic Steatosis and Adipose Tissue Inflammation in Male Diet-Induced Obese Mice.

Aim: The goal of this study was to determine the role of histone deacetylase 9 (HDAC9) in the development of diet-induced metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH) and white adipose tissue (WAT) dysfunctions.

Methods: We fed male and female mice with global Hdac9 knockout (KO) and their wild-type (WT) littermates an obesogenic high-fat/high-sucrose/high-cholesterol (35%/34%/2%, w/w) diet for 20 weeks.

Results: Hdac9 deletion markedly inhibited body weight gain and liver steatosis with lower liver weight and triglyceride content than WT in male mice but not females.

Astrocytes play a crucial role in maintaining brain homeostasis through functional gap junctions (GJs) primarily formed by connexin43 (Cx43). These GJs facilitate electrical and metabolic coupling between astrocytes, allowing the passage of ions, glucose, and metabolites. Dysregulation of Cx43 has been implicated in various pathologies, including traumatic brain injury (TBI) and acquired epilepsy.

Highly regulated cardiomyocyte Ca fluxes drive heart contractions. Recent findings from multiple organisms demonstrate that the specific Ca transport mechanism known as store-operated Ca entry (SOCE) is essential in cardiomyocytes for proper heart function, and SOCE dysregulation results in cardiomyopathy. Mechanisms that regulate SOCE in cardiomyocytes are poorly understood.

It is the third most diagnosed and the second deadliest cancer, with an estimated 153,020 new cases and 52,550 deaths in 2023. The severity of colon cancer may be attributed to its ability to avoid the host immune system and growth suppressors, its asymptomatic nature in the early stages, its association with a continually ageing population and unfavourable diet and obesity.
