Introduction: The von Hippel-Lindau (VHL) E3 ubiquitin ligase has seen extensive research due to its involvement in the ubiquitin proteasome system and role as a tumor suppressor within the hypoxia signaling pathway. VHL has become an attractive target for proteolysis targeting chimeras (PROTACs), bifunctional molecules that can induce degradation of neo-substrate proteins. The development of VHL inhibitors and PROTACs has seen rapid development since disclosure of the first non-peptidic VHL ligand (2012).

Crossing the streams: Improving data quality and integration across the One Health genomics continuum with data standards and implementation strategies.

The Canadian Genomics Research and Development Initiative for Antimicrobial Resistance (GRDI-AMR) uses a genomics-based approach to understand how health care, food production and the environment contribute to the development of antimicrobial resistance. Integrating genomics contextual data streams across the One Health continuum is challenging because of the diversity in data scope, content and structure. To better enable data harmonization for analyses, a contextual data standard was developed.

Long-term effect of Roux-en-Y gastric bypass versus sleeve gastrectomy on reflux and Barrett's oesophagus: a randomized controlled trial.

Background: Laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy (LSG) is a potentially refluxogenic operation while Laparoscopic Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass (LRYGB) is regarded as an anti-reflux procedure. The aim of this study is to compare long-term incidence of Barrett's Oesophagus (BO) and gastroesophageal reflux disease (GORD) following LSG and LRYGB.

Methods: Participants of a double-blinded randomized controlled trial comparing banded LRYGB and LSG for remission of type 2 diabetes were contacted to take part.

Development and Evaluation of a Presenter Coaching Program at an Academic Surgical Conference.

Objective: Presenting at academic conferences is an important means of disseminating research, networking, and building a professional reputation, but the quality of presentations at conferences is often suboptimal. This project describes the design, implementation, and evaluation of a presentation coaching program offered by an academic surgical society to presenters at its annual meeting.

Design: Oral presenters were paired with a coach and encouraged to meet independently, yet coaching was unstructured.
