Health and Liver Diagnostic Markers Influencing Glycemia in Subjects with Prediabetes: Preview Study.

Introduction: Glucose homeostasis may be dependent on liver conditions and influence health-related markers and quality of life (QoL) objective measurements. This study aimed to analyze the interactions of glycemia with liver and health status in a prediabetic population.

Subjects And Methods: This study included 2220 overweight/obese prediabetics from the multinational PREVIEW project.

[Level of compliance with validation processes and analysis of measurement scales in pediatrics].

Unlabelled: The use of latent construct measurement scales is widespread in the medical literature. An essential condition is that the instrument be validated, in addition to being highly reliable.

Objective: To evaluate the level of compliance with various methodological and statistical premises of validation studies of psychometric instruments in pediatrics, which are necessary to ensure adequate interpretation of the results, in order to offer recommendations for future research.

[Updates in General Management and Frequent Complications Following Adult Liver Transplant].

Liver transplantation (LT) is a cost-effective therapy for advanced liver disease. Although LT significantly improves long-term survival, it requires strict control of immunosuppressants and their potential complications. Several available immunosuppressive drugs include glucocorticoids, calcineurin inhibitors, mycophenolate, mTOR inhibitors, and anti-CD25 antibodies.

[Pancreatoduodenectomy in Octogenarian Patients and the Need for Standardized Evaluation].

Unlabelled: Pancreatoduodenectomy represents the only curative alternative in patients with periampullary tumors, currently with acceptable morbidity and mortality rates. However, there is little evidence in octogenarian patients.

Aim: To describe the experience of octogenarian patients undergoing pancreatoduodenectomy for tumors of the periampullary area at the Hospital Clínico de la Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile.

Central Pancreatectomy as a Surgical Alternative for Parenchyma Preservation.

Pancreatoduodenectomy and distal pancreatectomy are standard treatments for various pancreatic pathologies. These procedures involve radical resection and a significant loss of pancreatic tissue, which can lead to exocrine and/or endocrine pancreatic insufficiency. In selected cases of benign tumors or those with low malignant potential, central pancreatectomy can be performed with acceptable morbidity and mortality rates.
