Article Synopsis
  • Only 12% of Kenyan women participate in breast cancer screening programs, highlighting a significant gap in early detection, which is crucial for reducing the disease's risks.
  • The study involved 317 women of reproductive age from Turbo Sub-County, using a mixed-method approach to assess their knowledge, attitudes, and lifestyle factors affecting screening uptake.
  • Findings revealed that awareness of breast cancer signs notably increased screening likelihood, with positive attitudes boosting screening rates even further, while factors like breastfeeding and physical activity were also linked to higher screening rates.

This study examines the longer-term impact of a two-year (2015-17) multisectoral program on early sexual debut and fertility in an urban informal settlement in Kenya.

Glucagon is classically described as a counterregulatory hormone that plays an essential role in the protection against hypoglycemia. In addition to its role in the regulation of glucose metabolism, glucagon has been described to promote ketosis in the fasted state. Sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 inhibitors (SGLT2i) are a new class of glucose-lowering drugs that act primarily in the kidney, but some reports have described direct effects of SGLT2i on α-cells to stimulate glucagon secretion.
