A survey of healthcare workers' recommendations about human papillomavirus vaccination.

Purpose: The human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine is safe and effective for preventing HPV-related diseases. However, HPV vaccination rates in Japan are low because the "Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare" had stopped recommending vaccination. We assessed healthcare workers' (HCWs) current recommendations regarding the HPV vaccine and how the provision of information about HPV vaccination affected their recommendations.

[A Case of Laparoscopic Ileus Release for Intestinal Obstruction Due to Small Intestinal Metastasis Four Years after Penile Cancer Surgery].

We report a rare case of metastatic small intestine cancer originating from penile cancer triggered by intestinal obstruction, with some review of the literature. The case was a 78-year-old man at the first visit. Partial penile resection was performed for penile cancer.

Non-coding yet non-trivial: a review on the computational genomics of lincRNAs.

Long intergenic non-coding RNAs (lincRNAs) represent one of the most mysterious RNA species encoded by the human genome. Thanks to next generation sequencing (NGS) technology and its applications, we have recently witnessed a surge in non-coding RNA research, including lincRNA research. Here, we summarize the recent advancement in genomics studies of lincRNAs.

Sperm DNA fragmentation analysis using the TUNEL assay.

Terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase-mediated deoxyuridine triphosphate-nick end labeling or the TUNEL assay is an important technique in the assessment of DNA damage. Semen samples are routinely assessed microscopically to assess their fertilization ability. In addition to routine semen analysis, the use of the TUNEL assay can provide information on the level of DNA damage present within a sample.
