Pulmonary coccidioidomycosis presenting as a fungal ball mimicking aspergilloma.

A 49-year old female, known to have had an asymptomatic pulmonary cavity since 2015, presented in 2023 with hemoptysis. Radiology showed a mass suspected to be an aspergilloma. Due to persistent hemoptysis, lobectomy was performed.

Evaluation of environmental factors related to Aspergillus fumigatus azole resistance in the Netherlands.

Emergence of azole-resistant Aspergillus fumigatus represents a concern for public health worldwide. Here we applied a spatial analysis to a large number of records on A. fumigatus azole resistance in the Netherlands to evaluate the relationship of a set of environmental factors with the emergence of resistant isolates and to identify the potential risk areas.

Wild-type MIC distributions and epidemiological cutoff values for 5-flucytosine and species as determined by EUCAST broth microdilution.

Objectives: EUCAST has established clinical breakpoints and epidemiological cutoff values (ECOFFs) for spp. However, limited data are available for 5-flucytosine (5-FC). We assessed the susceptibility of 5-FC against a large collection of clinical species using EUCAST methodology and determined the associated ECOFFs.

The development of depression and social anxiety symptoms in adolescents and the negative impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and desire for peer contact.

Introduction: Adolescence is a dynamic developmental phase in which contact with peers is crucial for socio-emotional development and wellbeing. Depression and social anxiety show patterns of high onset during this period, and more for girls than boys. Here we examine this development among Dutch adolescents, as well as how desire for more peer contact as a result of social distancing measures during the COVID-19 pandemic contributed to this increase.
