Introduction And Objectives: With increases in obesity and metabolic syndrome because of lifestyle-related factors, the prevalence of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) also is increasing worldwide. In a subset of patients with NAFLD, an inflammatory process arises in the steatotic liver, known as non-alcoholic steatohepatitis, that leads to liver fibrosis and liver cirrhosis. In selected patients with obesity, bariatric surgery, and bariatric endoscopy are important therapeutic options.

A family of new compounds with sulfonamide and amide functional groups as potential Alzheimer's disease drugs were prepared by multistep synthesis. Thermal stability measurements recorded the initial decomposition in the range of 200-220°C, close above the melting point. The final compounds were tested for their ability to inhibit acetylcholinesterase and butyrylcholinesterase, and the in vitro dissolution behavior of selected compounds was studied through both lipophilic and hydrophilic matrix tablets.

The study population consisted of 45 patients (30 women, 15 men) who underwent one bariatric procedure - partial jejuno-ileal derivation (n=17), sleeve resection (n=14) or laparoscopic gastric - plication (n=14). Components of metabolic syndrome such as waist circumference, morning glycemia/antihypertension, TAG, HDL cholesterol and blood pressure (BP)/antihypertension were monitored in probands.

The equilibrium glass transition temperature was found to be = 10-15 °C, and the relaxation motions were found to be temperature-dependent. Crystal growth from the amorphous phase was found to be crucially dependent on the presence of mechanical defects that serve as centers for heterogeneous nucleation.

However, reports of its thermal stability include only data obtained under inert N atmosphere, which is not consistent with the common pharmaceutical practice. Therefore, detailed investigation of its real-life thermal stability in air is paramount for identification of potential risks and limitations during its high-temperature processing.
