Unlabelled: Fermentation of pectin-rich biomass by Saccharomyces cerevisiae can produce bioethanol as a fuel replacement to combat carbon dioxide emissions from the combustion of fossil fuels. Saccharomyces cerevisiae UCDFST 09-448 produces its own pectinase enzymes potentially eliminating the need for commercial pectinases during fermentation. This research assessed growth, pectinase activity, and fermentative activity of S.

The removal of organic dyes in aquatic media is, nowadays, a very pressing environmental problem. These dyes usually come from industries, such as textiles, food, and pharmaceuticals, among others, and their harm is produced by preventing the penetration of solar radiation in the aquatic medium, which leads to a great reduction in the process of photosynthesis, therefore damaging the aquatic ecosystems. The feasibility of implementing a process of nanofiltration in the purification treatment of an aqueous stream with small size dyes has been studied.

In recent years, the development of new lithium niobate electro-optic modulator designs and material processing techniques have contributed to support the increasing need for faster optical networks by considerably extending the operational bandwidth of modulators. In an effort to provide higher bandwidths for future generations of networks, we have developed a lithium niobate electro-optic phase modulator based on a coplanar waveguide ridged structure that operates up to 300 GHz. By thinning the lithium niobate substrate down to less than 39 µm, we are able to eliminate substrate modes and observe optical sidebands over the full millimeter-wave spectrum.

This study examines whether preschoolers can use information from a known category to induce a characteristic attribute of a novel, contrasting category based on a single instance. We showed 32 four-year-olds three instances of a Given Category and one instance of a Target Category. These objects could vary along two attribute dimensions, such as color and shape.
