IOC consensus statement: interpersonal violence and safeguarding in sport.

Objective: Interpersonal violence (IV) in sport is challenging to define, prevent and remedy due to its subjectivity and complexity. The 2024 International Olympic Committee Consensus on Interpersonal Violence and Safeguarding aimed to synthesise evidence on IV and safeguarding in sport, introduce a new conceptual model of IV in sport and offer more accessible safeguarding guidance to all within the sports ecosystem by merging evidence with insights from Olympic athletes.

The investigation of graphene as a protective coating for different materials has been an area of active research for well over a decade. However, graphene's ability to protect clean, reconstructed silicon from ambient gases has remained uninvestigated. Here, we describe the use of a clean ultrahigh vacuum transfer method to deposit graphene onto the Si(111)-7 × 7 reconstruction.

Investigating the Potential Short-term Adverse Effects of the Quadrivalent Human Papillomavirus Vaccine: A Novel Regression Discontinuity Analysis.

Background: Human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination has been offered in over a hundred countries worldwide (including the United Kingdom, since September 2008). Controversy around adverse effects persists, with inconsistent evidence from follow-up of randomized controlled trials and confounding by indication limiting the conclusions drawn from larger-scale observational studies. This study aims to estimate the association between receiving a quadrivalent HPV vaccine and the reporting of short-term adverse effects and to demonstrate the utility of regression discontinuity design for examining side effects in routine data.
