Background/purpose: Daily flushing of dental unit waterlines is important for infection control. However, the effect of flushing on water quality management in portable dental units (PDUs) for mobile dental treatments remains unclear. In this study, we aimed to investigate the factors affecting the effectiveness of PDU flushing.

This study aimed to evaluate the comprehensive risk factors for anastomotic leakage (AL) following rectal cancer surgery, incorporating recently introduced techniques and other existing factors, to reflect current practices.
Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted of 304 patients who underwent either robotic or laparoscopic anterior resection between January 2019 and December 2023.
Introduction: Leptomeningeal disease (LMD) in diffuse midline gliomas (DMGs) can lead to devastating symptoms such as severe pain, urinary incontinence, and tetraparesis, with limited treatment options. We determined whether detecting H3F3A K27M-mutant droplets in cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) circulating tumor deoxyribonucleic acid (ctDNA) could be a biomarker for detecting LMD in DMGs.
Methods: Twenty-five CSF samples were obtained from 22 DMG patients.
Median mandibular cyst is defined as an odontogenic cyst in a rare midline location. In spite of this definition, there have been two reports of a peculiar lesion, so-called "ciliated" median mandibular cyst associated with vital teeth, the origin of which cannot be explained in terms of odontogenic epithelium multipotentiality. We describe a thorough profile of an additional example.

However, age and comorbidities are considered in decision-making and some surgeons opt for observation. We compared the long-term outcomes of these approaches with the aim of clarifying the need for additional resection.
