Purpose: Second contralateral hip fractures (SCHF) are relatively uncommon. The overall prevalence of this is poorly reported in literature.

Methods: We performed a single centre retrospective cohort study in patients >50 years old who sustained a SCHF between 1st of January 2005 and 30th of April 2023.

Macrophages play crucial roles in immune response and tissue homeostasis, with their functions becoming increasingly complex in obesity-mediated metabolic disorders. This review explores the extensive range of macrophage activities within adipose and liver tissues, emphasizing their contribution to the pathogenesis and progression of obesity and its related metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD). In the context of obesity, macrophages respond adaptively to lipid overloads and inflammatory cues in adipose tissue, profoundly influencing insulin resistance and metabolic homeostasis.

Development of a PLA Polymer-Based Liquid Filler for Next-Generation Aesthetics.

In regard to both natural aging and photoaging caused by UV radiation, a decrease in skin collagen and elastin fibers results in the loss of soft tissue volume. Biodegradable polymer fillers have been used to overcome this problem, but the slow rate of reconstruction and particle agglomeration has limited this approach. The DMSB01 filler, which consists of poly d-l-lactic acid (PDLLA) with a methoxy polyethylene glycol (mPEG) initiator, was created to address this issue.
