Early detection of PDAC remains challenging due to the lack of early symptoms and the absence of reliable biomarkers. The aim of the present project was to identify miRNA and proteomics signatures discriminating PDAC patients with DM from nondiabetic PDAC patients. Proteomics analysis and miRNA array were used for protein and miRNA screening.

Maintenance Therapy for Pancreatic Cancer, a New Approach Based on the Synergy between the Novel Agent GP-2250 (Misetionamide) and Gemcitabine.

The novel Oxathiazinane derivative GP-2250 (Misetionamide) displays antineoplastic activity in vitro and in vivo, as previously shown in pancreatic cancer cells and in patient-derived mouse xenografts (PDX). Currently, GP 2250 is under phase I clinical trial in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC). GP-2250 in combination with Gemcitabine displays a high synergistic capacity in various primary and established pancreatic cancer cell lines.

Next-generation microbiological testing in intraabdominal infections with PCR technology.

Purpose: Intraabdominal infections (IAI) are increasing worldwide and are a major contributor to morbidity and mortality. Among IAI, the number of multi-drug resistant organisms (MDRO) is increasing globally. We tested the Unyvero A50® for intraabdominal infections, compared the detected microorganisms and antibiotic resistance, and compared the results with those of routine microbiology.

Career and life planning in the context of the postgraduate medical training - current challenges and opportunities.

Introduction: The possibility of balancing career and family is meanwhile a central concern for most physicians when choosing a job. The aim of this study was to identify current barriers and opportunities for physician education and career planning.

Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted as an online survey between 11/2021 and 02/2022 and targeted physicians at all career levels in Germany who were members of a clinical professional association.

In a female patient with acute cardiac decompensation, an auxiliary finding of a giant left atrium emerged. The surgical therapy of the atrial reduction, in addition to a mitral valve replacement and a coronary artery bypass grafting, is hereby presented.
