Comparative study between fixed-angle and polyaxial screws in distal radius fixation with two volar locking plates.

Introduction: When treating a distal radius fracture with a volar locking plate (VLP), numerous plate-screw designs are available. To date, there is not a screw fastening system with a clear superiority among the others.

Hypotesis: Fixed-angle screws are superior to polyaxial screws in distal radius VLP fixation with respect to screw protrusion and reduction preservation.

Total knee prosthesis in a patient diagnosed with ochronotic arthropathy.

Ochronosis is a rare genetic disease of phenylamine and tyrosine metabolism in which an accumulation of homogentisic acid occurs. The accumulation of HGA causes alkaptonuria and deposition in the connective tissue causing a dark colouring of the tissue. In the joints, it can lead to early and very disabling arthropathy, known as ochronotic arthropathy.

Purpose: The non-invasive expandable prosthesis for skeletally immature patients is used after limb salvage surgery following tumor resection. The aim of the study was to assess the effectiveness of this treatment.

Methods: Seven paediatric patients with femoral tumors had resection and limb salvage with an uncemented non-invasive growing prosthesis.

Introduction: Stiffness after a total knee arthroplasty (TKA) is one of the most common post-operative complications. The purpose of this study is the evaluation of the effectiveness of TT proximalization osteotomy of improving a lack of flexion and secondary pain in patella baja (infera) post-TKA.
