Background: The use of livers with significant steatosis is associated with worse transplantation outcomes. Brain death donor liver acceptance is mostly based on subjective surgeon assessment of liver appearance, since steatotic livers acquire a yellowish tone. The aim of this study was to develop a rapid, robust, accurate, and cost-effective method to assess liver steatosis.

Evaluation of vascular changes in cavernous arteries by penile doppler ultrasound in patients undergoing laparoscopic radical prostatectomy.

Patients undergoing radical prostatectomy for prostate cancer may experience erectile dysfunction (ED). Age of patients, experience of the surgeons and existence of ED before surgery are factors related to its appearance. The objective of the study was to assess the hemodynamic changes produced in the cavernous arteries in patients undergoing laparoscopic radical prostatectomy (LRP) measured with penile Doppler ultrasound (PDUS).

Gender perspective in the implementation of hygiene in cardiology intensive care.

Introduction: Hygiene in critical patients is an essential daily care, provided under safe conditions, to promote comfort and maintain the integrity of skin and mucous membranes, however, it can generate feelings of dependence and vulnerability in patients. The aim of this post hoc study is to know the differences in satisfaction and lived experience regarding bed hygiene in an intensive care unit according to biological sex and gender perspective.

Methods: Observational, descriptive and prospective study in which an ad hoc questionnaire was administered to 148 conscious and oriented patients of legal age.

An interregional measles outbreak in Spain with nosocomial transmission, November 2017 to July 2018.

Given sustained high vaccination coverage and enhanced surveillance for measles, Spain has been free of endemic measles transmission since 2014, achieving elimination certification from the World Health Organization in 2017. In November 2017, measles was introduced through an imported case travelling to the Valencian Community, causing an interregional outbreak. Here, we describe the outbreak using data reported to the national epidemiological surveillance network.
