ATP citrate lyase (ACLY), a crucial enzyme in de novo lipid synthesis and histone acetylation, plays a key role in regulating vascular smooth muscle cell (VSMC) proliferation and survival. We found that human coronary and pulmonary artery tissues had up-regulated ACLY expression during vascular remodeling in coronary artery disease and pulmonary arterial hypertension. Pharmacological and genetic inhibition of ACLY in human primary cultured VSMCs isolated from the coronary arteries of patients with coronary artery diseases and from the distal pulmonary arteries of patients with pulmonary arterial hypertension resulted in reduced cellular proliferation and migration and increased susceptibility to apoptosis.

While the circulating eCBome mediator profile is associated with dietary intakes and metabolic status, an important knowledge gap resides in the identification of the precise determinants of these mediators in the gut lumen. We aimed at establishing the profile of eCBome mediators in human feces and investigating their association with circulating eCBome mediators, dietary intakes, metabolic status and gut microbiota composition.

The authors led a workshop on NBS modelling as part of the 8th IWA Water Resource Recovery Modelling Seminar (WRRmod2022+) in January 2023, where the discussion centred around the design, use cases, and potential applications of NBS models. Four real-world case studies, encompassing an aerated lagoon, a biofilm-enhanced aerated lagoon, a stormwater basin, and a constructed wetland were reviewed to demonstrate practical applications and challenges in modelling NBS systems.

Methods: Prospectively collected data in all consecutive adults who underwent a Ross procedure were analyzed to compare the Ross procedure performed as a first surgery (RF) or as a redo surgery (RP).
Results: Between 1990 and 2021, 395 Ross procedures were performed at our center (RF, n = 345; RP, n = 50).
