Background: Neurological manifestations associated with COVID-19 remain partially described, mainly in low- and middle-income countries where diagnostic tools are limited. To address this, we assembled medical centers in Brazil with the goal of describing neurological syndromes associated with COVID-19 during the first wave of the pandemic.
Methods: From June 1st, 2020 to June 1st, 2021, non-consecutive adult patients with new onset of six neurological syndromes up to 60 days after confirmed COVID-19 were included.
Objective: Cancer cells undergo adaptive processes that favor their survival and proliferation when subjected to different types of cellular stress. These changes are linked to oncogenic processes such as genetic instability, tumor proliferation, therapy resistance, and invasion. Therefore, this study aimed to review studies that discuss possible morphological and genetic changes acquired by neoplastic cells under stressful conditions.

It is characterized by severe deficiency or absence of high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) and apolipoprotein A-1 (ApoA1), with highly variable clinical presentations depending on cholesterol accumulation in macrophages across different tissues. We report a case of a 47-year-old man with very low HDL-C and very high triglyceride levels, initially attributed to the patient's metabolic syndrome, alcohol abuse, and splenomegaly.
