Electron probe microanalyzer measurements of trace elements with high accuracy are challenging. Accurate Al measurements in olivine are required to calibrate SIMS implant reference materials for measurement of Al in the solar wind. We adopt a combined EPMA/SIMS approach that is useful for producing SIMS reference materials as well as for EPMA at the ~100 μg g level.

Although performed in the era of H2-blockers and open surgery, comparison of the so-called Nissen repair to both symptomatic and continuous medical therapies concluded that surgery was superior to medical therapy in every outcome measure used.

Vertical offsets of the horizontal recti.

The results of an analysis of the surgery performed to correct both horizontal and vertical strabismus in patients without fusion potential is presented. Recession and resection of the horizontal recti combined with vertical offsets was the procedure employed. These results indicate that both esotropia and exotropia along with a coexisting hypertropia can be made cosmetically acceptable by this procedure.
