A nitrate selective electrode was used for real-time in situ potentiometric monitoring of a batch nitrate removal process using activated carbon and ion exchange resin. A plasticized polymeric membrane consisting of polyvinyl chloride, 2-nitrophenyl octyl ether and tridodecyl methyl ammonium chloride was incorporated into an ion-selective electrode body. First, the dynamic potential response of the electrode to nitrate was investigated.

Parkinson's disease (PD) is the second most prevalent neurodegenerative disorder, and it remains incurable. Currently there is no definitive biomarker for detecting PD, measuring its severity, or monitoring of treatments. Recently, oculomotor fixation abnormalities have emerged as a sensitive biomarker to discriminate Parkinsonian patterns from a control population, even at early stages.

Fish tank granuloma has traditionally been associated with Mycobacterium marinum. We report the case of a 54 old-year woman that worked in a freshwater fish pet store and developed a skin ulcer in a hand finger with a suppurative granuloma secondary to Microbacterium paraoxydans. This is a bacterial fish pathogen, rarely observed in human infections.

As the involvement of the intestinal microbiota in the etiopathology of irritable bowel syndrome, subtype diarrhoea (IBS-D) is now increasingly recognised, a preliminary, quasi-experimental, before-after and prospective study was conducted on 28 patients to test the effect of a tannin-based supplement on the composition and activity of the microbiota, after 8 weeks of treatment. No statistically significant differences were found in α- or β-diversity. However, sparse Partial Least Squares Discriminant Analysis (sPLS-DA) and Boruta algorithm did reveal significant changes in the relative abundance of specific groups of bacteria, highlighting the involvement of recognized of IBS-D biomarkes, namely (adj = 3.

The present study evaluated the capacity of three species to improve health status and growth performance of Nile Tilapia fed with high levels of soybean meal and challenged with . experiments showed that β-hemolysin and metalloprotease enzymes were produced throughout the exponential growth phase. experiments showed that 10 colony-forming units (CFUs)/ml of this pathogen killed 50% of control group fishes in 13 days.
