Introduction: Pediatric patients are more likely to experience medication-related errors and serious associated harms. The identification of high-risk medications (HRM) and their study in special populations, such as children with excess body weight (EBW), is a part of safety improvement strategies.

Objective: To generate, through a consensus technique structured by an interdisciplinary group of pediatricians and hospital pharmacists, an operational and updated list of HRM for hospital use in children over 2 years of age.

Sepsis often leads to vasoplegia and a hyperdynamic cardiac state, with treatment focused on restoring vascular tone. However, sepsis can also cause reversible myocardial dysfunction, particularly in the elderly with pre-existing heart conditions. The Surviving Sepsis Campaign Guidelines recommend using dobutamine with norepinephrine or epinephrine alone for patients with septic shock with cardiac dysfunction and persistent hypoperfusion despite adequate fluid resuscitation and stable blood pressure.

Tuberculosis (TB), caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb) infection, is a chronic inflammatory disease. Although typically associated with inflammation of the lungs and other peripheral tissues, increasing evidence has uncovered neurological consequences attributable to Mtb infection. These include deficits in memory and cognition, increased risk for neurodegenerative disease, and progressive neuropathology.

Bimetallic complexes have demonstrated a great ability to enhance the activity of monometallic systems for bond activation and catalysis. In this work, we explore the opposite approach: using a second metal to passivate the activity of another by reversible bimetallic inhibition. To do so we have synthesized a family of nine electrophilic gold complexes of formula Au(PR)(NTf) ([NTf] = [N(SOCF)]) that can act as inhibitors in the semihydrogenation of terminal and internal alkynes catalyzed by the iconic iridium Vaska complex IrCl(CO)(PPh).
