Predictors of neurodevelopmental outcome following bronchopulmonary dysplasia.

In infants with bronchopulmonary dysplasia, the influence of the severity of their pulmonary disease on neurodevelopmental outcome is unknown. Neurodevelopmental outcomes at a mean age of 36 months were assessed in 27 premature subjects who had bronchopulmonary dysplasia. Subjects had a mean birth weight of 940 g (range, 540 to 1690 g) and a mean gestational age of 27 weeks (range, 25 to 31 weeks).

Effect of digoxin on ejection fraction in elderly patients with congestive heart failure.

To assess the effect of oral digoxin on left ventricular systolic function in elderly patients, radionuclide angiography was performed on 20 patients 74 years old or older before and after several weeks of oral digoxin. The mean age was 83.8 years.

Left ventricular function in hospitalized geriatric patients.

Left ventricular ejection fraction was measured by gated wall motion in 62 patients, 75 years old or older, admitted to a Geriatric Acute Assessment Ward. From this group, 42 patients not taking digitalis or other cardioactive medication were selected for analysis. Thirty of them had clinically identifiable heart disease, whereas 12 did not.
