Purpose: To estimate travel distance and time for US hemodialysis patients and to compare travel of rural versus urban patients.
Methods: Dialysis patient residences were estimated from ZIP code-level patient counts as of February 2011 allocated within the ZIP code proportional to census tract-level population, obtained from the 2010 U.S.
Background: Apposition of wound edges by sutures provides a temporary scaffold and tension support for healing. We have developed a novel tissue-sealing technology, photoactivated tissue bonding (PTB), which immediately crosslinks proteins between tissue planes, thereby sealing on a molecular scale.
Objectives: To determine the effectiveness of PTB for superficial closure of skin excisions and to compare the results with standard epidermal suturing.
Little is known about electronic medical record (EMR) use in small dialysis organizations (SDOs). The objective was to determine the prevalence of EMRs in SDOs in the United States. A random sample telephone survey of SDOs was conducted in October, 2008.
