In recent years, mechanosynthesis of peptides through either chemical or enzymatic routes has been accomplished. In part, this advancement has been driven due to the organocatalytic properties of peptide-based biomaterials. In this work, we report the merging of chemical and enzymatic protocols under mechanochemical conditions to synthesize peptide materials based on L-proline and L-phenylalanine.

Design: Using phenomenological approach, we conducted face-to-face, one-on-one interviews using a semistructured interview methodology.
Setting: All participants worked as EMS providers in a city fire department along the Texas-Mexico border.
Background: Serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D (25[OH]D) concentrations have been shown to be low in patients with migraine, but results are controversial regarding the current role of vitamin D in migraine severity. Using a case-control design, we aimed to evaluate serum 25(OH)D levels in a group of females with high-frequency episodic migraine/chronic migraine (HF/CM) and analyze its association with headache frequency and serum calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) levels.
Methods: Serum 25(OH)D levels were measured in 97 females with HF/CM (age 48.
Background: The benefit of pulmonary metastasectomy (PM) in patients with colorectal cancer (CRC) with isolated lung metastases remains unclear and failure to separate colon from rectal cancer may contribute. Utilizing a large national database, we investigate whether PM is associated with survival benefits in patients presenting with CRC with synchronous lung metastases based upon primary tumor location.
Methods: The Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database from 2010 to 2015 was queried to identify patients with stage IV CRC with isolated synchronous lung metastases at initial diagnosis.
Objective: To describe intraoperative cardiac arrest in patients undergoing congenital heart surgery.
Methods: The Society of Thoracic Surgeons Congenital Heart Surgery Database was queried. Predictors of intraoperative cardiac arrest were assessed using univariate and multivariable analyses.
