First case start (FCS) time is often a key metric used to gauge efficiency in an endoscopy suite. There are limited data on tools and methods to improve the FCS time in the endoscopy suite. A prospective observational cohort study was conducted in an academic tertiary care endoscopy suite examining the effect of badge sign-in (Period 2) and badge sign-in coupled with report cards (Period 3) compared to an initial observational period (Period 1).

Remote video auditing (RVA) is a tool that can monitor reprocessing compliance but it has not been previously evaluated in a tertiary care setting. The aims of this study were to evaluate: 1) RVA feasibility in a tertiary care setting (defined as the ability to audit every step of duodenoscope reprocessing without delaying the next procedure due to unavailability of duodenoscopes); and 2) the use of RVA as a compliance monitoring tool.

- A total of 24 newborns were examined, revealing high rates of antibiotic resistance, particularly against ampicillin (75%) and other common treatments, with certain genetic types (ST95 and ST131) being more prevalent.
- The presence of virulence factors, like the K1 capsule, was noted in half of the isolates, with implications for increased invasiveness in very young infants; hence, ongoing monitoring for resistance and virulence in E. coli is essential.

How homeostatic processes contribute to map plasticity and stability in sensory cortex is not well-understood. Classically, sensory deprivation first drives rapid Hebbian weakening of spiking responses to deprived inputs, which is followed days later by a slow homeostatic increase in spiking responses mediated by excitatory synaptic scaling. Recently, more rapid homeostasis by inhibitory circuit plasticity has been discovered in visual cortex, but whether this process occurs in other brain areas is not known.

Study Design: HPT was measured using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay in 30 PT and 28 T newborns without hemolysis or infection at birth (cord blood), on days of life 2 to 4, and at 1 to 2 weeks of life.
