Recommendations for Transitioning Young People with Primary Immunodeficiency Disorders and Autoinflammatory Diseases to Adult Care.

Purpose: Significant improvements in the prognosis for young patients with Primary Immunodeficiency Diseases (PID) and Autoinflammatory Disorders (AID), which together make up the majority of Inborn Errors of Immunity (IEI), have resulted in the need for optimisation of transition and transfer of care to adult services. Effective transition is crucial to improve health outcomes and treatment compliance among patients. Evaluations of existing transition programmes in European health centres identified the absence of disease-specific transition guidelines for PID and AID, as a challenge to the transition process.

Mevalonate kinase deficiency: an updated clinical overview and revision of the SHARE recommendations.

Mevalonate kinase deficiency (MKD), a rare auto-inflammatory disorder, arises from mutations in the gene, disrupting isoprenoid biosynthesis, and affecting cellular processes. This comprehensive review provides an updated perspective on MKD, including its aetiology, pathogenesis, diagnostic modalities, and therapeutic strategies. Based on recent research and clinical advances, our objective is to bridge the knowledge gaps in the 2015 SHARE guidelines.

Cytokines and Madness: A Unifying Hypothesis of Schizophrenia Involving Interleukin-22.

Schizophrenia is a severe neuropsychiatric illness of uncertain etiopathogenesis in which antipsychotic drugs can attenuate the symptoms, but patients rarely return to the premorbid level of functioning. In fact, with each relapse, people living with schizophrenia progress toward disability and cognitive impairment. Moreover, our patients desire to live normal lives, to manage their daily affairs independently, date, get married, and raise and support a family.

Real-world psychosocial impact among patients with juvenile idiopathic arthritis and families in Spain.

Background: To assess the psychosocial impact of moderate-severe juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) on patients and their families, among those who had been treated with at least one anti-tumor necrosis factor (anti-TNF-α), according to routine clinical practice in Spain.

Patients And Methods: A 24-month observational, multicentric, cross-sectional and retrospective study was performed. Children diagnosed with JIA were enrolled at three tertiary-care Spanish hospitals.

Viruses shape microbial community structure and activity through the control of population diversity and cell abundances. Identifying and monitoring the dynamics of specific virus-host pairs in nature is hampered by the limitations of culture-independent approaches such as metagenomics, which do not always provide strain-level resolution, and culture-based analyses, which eliminate the ecological background and in-situ interactions. Here, we have explored the interaction of a specific "autochthonous" host strain and its viruses within a natural community.
