Modified Delphi Consensus on Interventions for Acute Radiation Dermatitis in Breast Cancer: A Canadian Expert Perspective.

Acute radiation dermatitis (ARD) is a prevalent adverse effect of radiotherapy in patients with breast cancer, and there is a lack of high-quality data regarding its prevention and management. This study employs a systematic and iterative process to compile the perspectives of Canadian radiation oncology, nursing, and dermatology experts, aiming to establish consensus-based recommendations for the prevention and management of ARD in breast cancer patients. A modified Delphi consensus was conducted with the participation of 19 experts from across Canada.

Combination of Elastic Nail(s) and Cementoplasty to Treat Pathological Fractures in Long Bones of the Upper Limb.

Objective: To describe and study retrospectively the combination of elastic nails and cementoplasty to stabilize pathological fractures in the upper limb and present the results on pain and mobility.

Materials And Methods: Between January 2022 and April 2024, six patients with a median age of 65 were treated with elastic nailing and cement injection. Pathological fractures were located in the clavicle (n = 3), humerus (n = 1) and radius (n = 2).

A Randomized Trial Comparing Concurrent versus Sequential Radiation and Endocrine Therapy in Early-Stage, Hormone-Responsive Breast Cancer.

Concerns exist regarding increased toxicities, including endocrine therapy toxicity, with concurrent radiation and endocrine therapy in early breast cancer (EBC). We present a pragmatic, randomized trial comparing concurrent versus sequential endocrine and radiotherapy in hormone-responsive EBC. In this multicenter trial, patients were randomized to receive adjuvant endocrine therapy concurrent with, or sequential to, radiotherapy.

The COVID-19 pandemic and its effects on follow-up of patients with early breast cancer: A patient survey.

Purpose: Despite limited evidence supporting its effectiveness, most guidelines recommend long-term, routinely scheduled in-person surveillance of patients with early breast cancer (EBC). The COVID-19 pandemic led to increased use of virtual care. This survey evaluated patient perspectives on follow-up care.

Percutaneous image-guided cryoablation with temporary balloon occlusion of the renal artery for the treatment of central renal tumors.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to report the technical feasibility and outcomes of percutaneous image-guided cryoablation with temporary balloon occlusion of the renal artery for the treatment of central renal tumors.

Materials And Methods: All consecutive patients with central renal tumors treated with cryoablation and temporary renal artery occlusion from January 2017 to October 2021 were retrospectively included. Patient demographics, tumor's characteristics, procedural data, technical success, primary and secondary clinical efficacy, complications (according to Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiology Society of Europe [CIRSE] classification) and follow-up were investigated.
