Clinicoradiologic Criteria for the Diagnosis of Stroke-like Episodes in MELAS.

Background And Objectives: Stroke-like episodes (SLEs) in patients with mitochondrial encephalomyopathy, lactic acidosis, and stroke-like episodes (MELAS) syndrome are often misdiagnosed as acute ischemic stroke (AIS). We aimed to determine unique clinical and neuroimaging features for SLEs and formulate diagnostic criteria.

Methods: We retrospectively identified patients with MELAS admitted for SLEs between January 2012 and December 2021.

Simplifying the diagnosis of optic tract lesions.

Optic tract lesions (OTL) are often difficult to diagnose. We suggest an algorithm to simplify the often-challenging diagnosis of OTL. Clinical and imaging data were retrospectively collected from the electronic files of 6 patients diagnosed with OTL at a tertiary medical center in 2016-2020.

Are Hounsfield Unit Measurements of Bony Absorption Changes in Cholesteatoma Helpful?
