Excessive posterior translation of the residual clavicle after distal clavicle resection can be associated with significant postoperative pain. Although the acromioclavicular capsule has been identified as the primary restraint to translation of the clavicle along this axis, the individual contributions of the anterior, posterior, superior, and inferior components of the capsular ligament have not been established. The purpose of this study was to define the relative roles of the individual acromioclavicular capsular ligaments in preventing posterior translation of the distal clavicle in normal acromioclavicular joints in a human cadaver model.

This study was aimed at investigating normal subjects walking with support using a robotic device (REHABOT) intended for gait training and rehabilitation of physically disabled individuals. Ground reaction forces, knee joint kinematics, temporal factors of gait, and oxygen cost were measured on fourteen healthy subjects. The apparatus was to support 0%, 20%, 40% and 60% of each subject's body weight through an upper torso harness connected to the robotic device.

Contact stresses in the wrist were measured after simulating displaced fractures of the lunate fossa in the distal radius of eight human cadaver arms. Osteotomies created displaced lunate fossa fractures of 0, 1, 2, and 3 mm. Contact stresses were measured with Fuji pressure-sensitive film after loads of 100 N were applied to the wrist through wrist flexor and extensor tendons.
