Introduction: Atrial late gadolinium enhancement (Atrial-LGE) and electroanatomic voltage mapping (Atrial-EAVM) quantify the anatomical and functional extent of atrial cardiomyopathy. We aimed to explore the relationships between, and outcomes from, these modalities in patients with atrial fibrillation undergoing ablation.
Methods: Patients undergoing first-time ablation had disease severities quantified using both Atrial-LGE and Atrial-EAVM.
Ionic liquids (ILs) are promising alternative compounds that enable the development of technologies based on their unique properties as solvents or catalysts. These technologies require integrated product and process designs to select ILs with optimal process performances at an industrial scale to promote cost-effective and sustainable technologies. The digital era and multiscale research methodologies have changed the paradigm from experiment-oriented to hybrid experimental-computational developments guided by process engineering.

Experiments of dry particle-plate collisions in an enclosed box were carried out to characterize quantitatively the sticking efficiency of volcanic particles and silica beads in a limit case scenario where the mass of one of the particles is much greater than the others. Silica beads and volcanic particles from a Sakurajima Vulcanian eruption were filmed impacting a glass plate with a High-Speed Camera.

PD is characterized by neuronal Lewy bodies present in the substantia nigra of the midbrain and the loss of dopaminergic neurons with various motor and non-motor symptoms associated with the disease. The protein α-synuclein has been extensively studied for its contribution to PD pathology, as α-synuclein aggregates form the major component of Lewy bodies, a hallmark of PD.

Large two-photon absorption (2PA) cross-section combined with high emission quantum efficiency and size-tunable bandgap energy has put colloidal semiconductor nanocrystals (NCs) on the vanguard of nonlinear optical materials. After nearly two decades of intense studies on the nonlinear optical response in quantum-confined semiconductors, this is still a vibrant field, as novel nanomaterials are being developed and new applications are being proposed. In this review, we examine the progress of 2PA research in NCs, highlighting the impact of quantum confinement on the magnitude and spectral characteristics of this nonlinear response in semiconductor materials.
