Idiopathic generalized epilepsies are a group of sleep related epilepsy syndromes with sleep deprivation as a strong trigger for seizures and increased spike-wave activity during sleep and transition to sleep. Neuropsychological deficits are common in Idiopathic generalized epilepsy patients. Learning and memory processes are closely linked to sleep.

Fertility preservation: improved neovascularization and follicle viability in cryopreserved bovine ovarian cortex transplants by remaining medulla tissue.

Objective: To investigate the advantages of cryopreserved medulla-containing ovarian cortex grafts with those of commonly used sole cortex grafts for fertility preservation by analyzing tissue quality, neovascularization processes, and the number of vital follicles.

Background Lichen planus (LP) is a pathology that affects the skin and the mucosa. The lips are rarely involved but represent a diagnostic challenge in those cases. Oral lichenoid lesions (OLL) are defined as lesions that resemble oral lichen planus (OLP) but do not fully meet the clinical and/or histologic criteria for OLP.

Climate impact of an optimised gas treatment on old landfills.

It is a well-established fact that the quality and quantity of landfill gas (LFG) start declining after a landfill is closed to further waste intake. Conventional gas treatment and utilisation systems such as flares and gas-driven engines require a certain quality of LFG: specifically, a sufficient methane concentration. Various measures are utilised to maintain the necessary quality of LFG, including a turn-down of gas extraction rates and a shutdown of low-quality gas wells, resulting in a decline of LFG production.

Synthesis and evaluation of antitumor activity of 9-methoxy-1H-benzo[f]chromene derivatives.

Herein, a series of aryl-substituted derivatives of 3-amino-1-aryl-9-methoxy-1H-benzo[f]chromene-2-carbonitriles (4a-4q) were designed and synthesized via reaction of 7-methoxy-2-naphthol with a mixture of appropriate aromatic aldehydes and malononitrile under microwave conditions. Among the tested benzochromene, the known compound 4e and four novel compounds 4f, 4j, 4k, 4m exhibited the highest cytotoxicity towards a panel of six human cancer cell lines MDA-MB-231, A549, HeLa, MIA PaCa-2, RPMI 7951, and PC-3. Compound 4j with 2,4-dichloro substitution on the pendant phenyl ring exhibited the highest broad-spectrum cytotoxicity towards all tested cancer cell lines.
