Expansions of Medicaid family planning services have been associated with decreases in pregnancy rates. Access to a broader range of medical, non-family planning services may influence pregnancy rates as well if the increased exposure to medical services spills over to other kinds of behaviour. Using a difference-in-difference approach, I examine the impact of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) Medicaid expansions on the propensity of low-income, single women to become single mothers.

Methods: In collaboration with the National Health Institute of Colombia and with international support, we developed a qualitative PT for severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) by reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR). A proficiency test item (PTI) based on reference material (research grade) produced by the National Institute of Standards and Technologies (NIST) was prepared and characterised using three positive samples with varying concentrations of SARS-CoV-2 ribonucleic acid (RNA) and two negative (control) samples.
Background: Collective risk factors such as climate and pollution impact on the risk of acute cardiovascular events, including ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI). There is limited data however on the precise temporal and independent association between these factors and STEMI, and the potentially interacting role of government policies against Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), especially for Latin America.
Methods: We retrospectively collected aggregate data on daily STEMI admissions at 10 tertiary care centers in the Buenos Aires metropolitan area, Argentina, from January 1, 2017 to November 30, 2020.
Several rapid methods based on nucleic acids can detect foodborne pathogens, such as Salmonella spp. However, a common reference that enables metrological traceability among measurement results is not available. Reference materials (RM) are thus key to guarantee methodological comparability.
